He Said Hi
I was oblivious to my surroundings
But then a shadow loomed in front of me
He said, “Hi”
And I wondered who it was initially
I saw a neatly pressed shirt
Worn on a long and lean torso
Equally smart pants
And leather shoes to go
“Who may this be?”
My frantic mind wondered
Not daring to move a muscle
Lest I might stumble
Slowly, I raised my questioning eyes
Toward’s the stranger’s face
I nearly gasped at the recognition
For he was someone I could never replace
I hid my surprise
And felt my lips smile
“Hello,” I said
Something I’ve been wanting to say all these while
He smiled back at me
A smile so sweet
It pushed me back into time
Where memories were buried deep
We didn’t talk much
And he didn’t stay long
As he walked away
I wondered what went wrong
